Sheriff Matthew W. Beickert’s office, the Currituck County Detention Center, and the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction handle different records. Contact the right custodian for the question you have.
Do not send personal documents, payment, or emergency information through this site. The official offices below are the appropriate contacts for custody, booking, court, and records questions.
Start with CCSO or the Jail
For a named booking record or a lawful current-custody question, begin with the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office or the Currituck County Detention Center.
Currituck County Sheriff’s Office
125 College Way
Barco, NC 27956
252-453-8204
Communications/non-emergency: 252-232-2216
Emergency: 911
Detention Center
Directory contact: 252-453-3633
The county directory lists 407 Maple Road, Maple, NC 27956. The detention page body displays 153 Courthouse Road, Currituck, NC. Confirm the current mailing or visit address and visitation rules before traveling.
CCSO’s administrative function is the best starting point for a precise public-record request. Ask for the booking sheet, arrest-information fields, booking photograph if maintained and releasable, booking/release dates, charge fields, and bond field. Give the person’s full name, date range, arresting agency, and case or booking number if known. Request electronic delivery, reasonably segregable portions, the legal basis for a denial or redaction, and a fee estimate.
Choose the Right Official Path
- Booking photo or report: use the CCSO records/admin route described on the county search guide. No county-specific photo request form was verified.
- Current custody or notification: contact detention, then try NC SAVAN/VINELink at 1-877-627-2826. It has exclusions and no mugshot guarantee.
- Case, hearing, or disposition: search eCourts and use the Currituck Clerk of Court. A docket is not a booking photo or a conviction database.
- Most wanted or warrant concern: use official CCSO contacts and the Sheriff’s Most Wanted guidance. A private search page is not a warrant confirmation.
- State sentence or supervision: use the NCDAC offender search, which does not cover ordinary county-jail bookings.
- Federal or immigration custody: use the BOP locator or ICE locator. Neither is a Currituck photo source.
Safety and Accuracy
CCSO’s official scam warning says the office will not demand Bitcoin, gift cards, wire transfers, or electronic payment to stop an arrest. If a caller makes that demand, hang up and locate the official number yourself. Call 911 for immediate danger. An arrest charge is an accusation, not proof of guilt, and custody status can change after a story or record is published.
